really, maybe you are.
i read this at a coffee shop once and found it very comforting at the time. while it sounds like a negative statement, there’s something quite hopeful in it. i decided to make a print of my own.

i found this amazing typeface in an old specimen book. i scanned it, manually set it, then silkscreened two colors on some nice crane stock. pretty happy with results.

prints now available on my etsy shop.
i was recently approached by a minneapolis producer dan huiting to illustrate credits for the city of music: roma di luna video. it was really wonderful to have an opportunity to do work for a local band whose music i happen to love. their performance was filmed in the lovely green room at the cedar cultural center – you can view some of my backstage production stills on the city pages blog. here is how it all came together:

a few closeups:

susan andersen is a dear friend and a writer of brand new sour milk blog. she also happens to pay in designer shoes. when she showed up at my doorstep with a pair of christian louboutins asking for a logo, i went weak at the knees. check out the little cutie below, then go read some stories.

i thought i’d take a break from coptic binding and make a little long-stitched book. i found some nice gray and white vinyl for the cover. i sewed them back to back so i’d have nice lining on the inside. the signatures were made from recycled notepad graph paper and the button was lost by someone at our office. if you recognize it and think it’s yours, i may give it back for three easy payments of $4.99 :-P

a book i bound and illustrated for a friend. i got a little impatient drawing all those leaves and it gave me a small blister, but there’s something kind of therapeutic in repeating the same mark for hours…
